Jeremiah had a most difficult assignment, he must preach to the nation a message of God's judgment because of their sins. We call Jeremiah the "weeping prophet" because he wept fountains of tears over the condition of his people. But Jeremiah was also a prophet of hope. God told Jeremiah to "Call upon me and I will answer you." It was a call to prayer for the nation. Surely God desires that our nation would return to Him with all our hearts. If God's people will answer His call to prayer, that could surely happen.
