Children naturally love the stories of Jesus.  We know that Jesus welcomed little children to come to Him, placed His hands on them, and blessed them. God has given a role of leadership in the family to the husband and father.  He is to love his wife and in his discipline of children he must not be harsh, for such harshness can embitter them. Children are encouraged to "obey obey your parents in everything, fo rthis pkleases the Lord."  In the parallel passage in Ephesians, Paul adds this truth--"for this is right."  God give us Christian homes, where mother and father love each other and love the Lord, homes where discipline is firm but loving.  It is especially important for a minister of the gospel to guide his household well.  "He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect.  (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?) [1 Timothy 3:4-5]
