The most memorable thing about the Book of Ezekiel is probably the prophet's vision of the valley of dry bones. The Spirit of the Lord took Ezekiel from his exile in Babylonia back to the land of Israel and led him to a valley filled with bones that were very dry. "Son of man, can these bones live?" Ezekiel wisely answered, "O Sovereign Lord, you alone know." The Lord told Ezekiel that these dry bones were the whole house of Israel. Every generation is faced with difficulties that seem as impossible as dry bones coming back to life. But the impossible is possible with our Sovereign Lord. He can restore nations. He can restore individuals whose spiritual lives have become dry and fruitless.
