One of the most remarkable aspects of Scripture is Bible prophecy.  Only the God who is above and beyond time could reveal events to His servants, the prophets, events that would take place hundreds of years later.  Matthew records several prophecies about the birth of Christ.  This gospel writer was especially concerned to show his own people, the Jews, that Jesus was the Messiah.  Without his Spirit-guided insight we might not have known these prophecies regarding the birth of Christ.
