The Apostle Paul encourages us to be prepared for the battle with spiritual forces of evil by putting on the full armor of God. As he was a prisoner of Rome at the time of his writing of this letter to the church at Ephesus, he would have had ample opportunity to observe the armor of the Roman soldiers who guarded him. He lists six items. But he also adds that the servant of the Lord needs prayer. Prayer and the armor of God--these are indispensable for a soldier of the cross.
