There is probably no other Scripture so well known as the one we call "The Golden Rule"--"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Some have called this the "high point" of the Sermon on the Mount. Other religions have similar rules; however, they are all negative and passive. The Golden Rule is active and positive. Jesus said that the Golden Rule sums up the whole of the Law and the Prophets of the Old Testament. There is another such Scripture--The Greatest Commandment. "All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." So, if we put these two together--the Golden Rule and the Greatest Commandment--we could sum up the whole of the teaching of Scripture as simply "love God and love your neighbor."
